Among the most notable figures of the Riverside Heights era was Ignacio Antinori — born in Ciminna, Sicily around 1884 — who became the dominant figure in Tampa’s bolita lottery trade during the 1920s and 1930s. Antinori controlled much of the numbers racket across Tampa Bay and lived in the Riverside Heights neighborhood, in close proximity to 704 W. Braddock. His story — and his October 1940 murder at a Nebraska Avenue restaurant, never officially solved — remains one of the most vivid chapters in Tampa’s layered history.
